A massive earthquake is predicted to hit Tokyo, Japan within the next four years. The quake could possibly reach a 7 on the Richter scale and will be in the same area that was hit last March, which caused a tsunami that struck 230 kilometers northeast side of Tokyo.
The University of Tokyo has been conducting seismological studies and gathering research on the predicted weather changes. They found that the number of small magnitude earthquakes has increased by 47 over the last six months.
Researcher Shinichi Sakai predicts that an earthquake reaching 7.2 magnitudes will hit within the next four years.
One of the most devastating effects of a massive earthquake that could happen in Japan will be property damage. It’s crucial that buildings in Tokyo are reinforced to withstand shifting foundations and flying debris.
Our [StonePanels] Panels have exceptional flexural strength, which is ideal for seismic zones. [StonePanels] Panels have passed shear tests, simulating seismic loading, conducted in accordance with ASTM E – 72. In addition, these panels have been tested to resist up to 60 times more impact than solid 3 cm thick granite.
