Cardinal Towne at the University of Louisville Adds Modern Luxury to College Life
DALLAS (February 2012) – Last fall, Stone Panels, Inc. completed the first phase of a new student housing project with the University of Louisville in Louisville, KY.
Cardinal Towne is the latest development at the University of Louisville. The 360,000 square foot facility includes housing for students as well as a few retail spots. The project is part of the new trend on college campuses – a private development that’s built with an affiliation and endorsement from the university.
The goal of Cardinal Towne is to bring a community feel to the University of Louisville with modern apartment-style housing for students mixed with housing and retail space on the first floor.
Stone Panels, Inc. worked with architects Carras-Szany-Kuhn & Associates, PC Architects as well as 3rd Street Development, LLC and Whittenberg Construction to bring this new concept to life.
The project called for 15,700 square feet of Coffee Sandstone and 5,500 square feet of Indiana Limestone fabricated with returns and reveals to form a rusticated stone appearance.
Cardinal Towne officially opened and welcome students this past August. So far, the feedback from students has been positive. Many stated that they chose Cardinal Towne because of is amenities, community, safety and location.
The development was so well received that a second phase was approved. Construction has started and the new addition will open this summer.
