Stonelite® Education Construction Spotlight: Bryant University

In 2009, Stone Panels, Inc. (SPI) provided their expertise and exceptional StoneLite® product to Bryant University’s Interfaith Chapel in Smithfield, Rhode Island. The one-story building opened in time to kick off the 2009 – 2010 academic year; it replaced the previous chapel in the Bryant Center. On this project, SPI worked with nationally recognized New York City firm Gwathmey Siegel & Associates Architects.

The chapel’s purpose is to be a non-denominational place of worship and reflection for the community of Bryant University. The chapel is located between the Bryant Center and the George E. Bello Center for Information and Technology. SPI used Gascogne Beige limestone StoneLite® panels for the 11,000-square-foot structure. SPI’s StoneLite® Panels can be used anywhere solid dimensional stone is used, but also in applications where dimensional stone is too heavy to be economically used.

Universities are a frequent client of SPI because of our ability to embrace traditional materials, technological innovation and productivity improvement. SPI can create brand new structures that complement historical landmarks and institutional traditions. No SPI structure seems out of place; every addition made to an established campus is carefully designed and precisely manufactured.

Bryant University, a private university founded in 1863, has a rich history of education and tradition. It was originally Bryant College until 2004 when it was accredited by the New England Association of Schools and Colleges and the AACSB International. In 2010, the Board of Trustees honored President Ronald K. Machtley and his wife Kati C. Machtley by dedicating the Interfaith Center in their names.

StoneLite® Gascogne Beige limestone panels complement the architecture of Bryant University and the quiet reflection theme of the Interfaith Chapel.
